How Spin to Win works

Spin to Win is a gamified popup that shows visitors a prize wheel on your storefront. They enter their phone number, spin the wheel, and win a discount code — giving you a new contact and giving them a reason to buy right now.

Video walkthrough: Watch the full setup guide below.

What it does

When a visitor lands on your store, a spinning prize wheel pops up after a trigger you set (e.g. after 5 seconds or when they try to leave). The wheel has segments you configure — each one can be a discount percentage, a fixed amount off, or "No prize."

To spin, the visitor must enter their phone number. After spinning:

  • If they win — they get a unique discount code shown right on screen, ready to use at checkout
  • If they land on "No prize" — they see a friendly message encouraging them to keep shopping
  • Either way — their phone number is saved as a contact for your store

Setting it up

Go to Boosters in your dashboard and click Spin to Win.

1. Configure the wheel segments

Add between 2 and 8 segments. Each segment needs:

  • Label — what customers see on the wheel (e.g. "10% Off", "Free Delivery", "No Luck")
  • Type — choose between a discount prize or "No prize"
  • Discount — if it's a prize segment, link it to one of your existing discount codes
Tip: Include at least one "No prize" segment to keep the game exciting. A wheel where everyone wins feels less like a game and more like a coupon — and games convert better.

2. Set the trigger

Choose when the wheel appears:

  • Time delay — show after the visitor has been on your store for a set number of seconds (e.g. 5 seconds)
  • Exit intent — show when the visitor moves their cursor to leave the page (desktop) or starts to navigate away (mobile)

3. Enable and save

Toggle the booster on and save. The wheel will start appearing for store visitors immediately.

Discount codes and expiry

Each prize segment is linked to a discount code you've already created in your store. The discount code's own expiry date is what customers see — if your discount expires on March 15th, the wheel will show "Expires in 5 days" (or however long is left).

You don't need to set a separate expiry for the wheel — it inherits the expiry from the discount itself.

Phone number capture

Every visitor who spins — win or lose — gives you their phone number. This number is:

  • Saved to your Contacts automatically
  • Pre-filled at checkout so they don't have to type it again
  • Available for future marketing (WhatsApp broadcasts, follow-ups)

One spin per visitor

Each phone number can only spin once per day. If a visitor tries to spin again (even from a different browser tab), they'll see a message that they've already played. This prevents abuse while keeping the game fair.

Best practices

  • Use 4–6 segments — enough variety to feel exciting, not so many it's overwhelming
  • Mix big and small wins — one "20% Off" segment and several "5% Off" segments keeps it interesting
  • Always have a "No prize" segment — if everyone wins, nobody feels special
  • Time delay of 5–10 seconds — let visitors see your products first before popping up the wheel
  • Run it during campaigns — Spin to Win works best during sales, product launches, or seasonal events
